Description

CM 51 Cold Stripping Gel quickly and reliably removes even resistant coatings. These include oil, nitrocellulose, synthetic resin and chlorinated rubber paints, interior and exterior dispersion paints, facade paints, sealing paints, fillers, polishes, powder coatings and PU lacquers. According to the data sheet, the effect extends to lacquers baked at 180 degrees Celsius. The technical difference to liquid paint removers lies in the gel form: The product remains on vertical surfaces and profiles, dries out more slowly and keeps the active ingredient in contact with the coating for the entire exposure time of up to 30 minutes. In most cases, one application is sufficient. For businesses, this means short cycle times in component preparation, economical consumption per square meter and the avoidance of thermal or mechanical removal with the risk of component damage. The application range extends from component preparation in metal construction and surface technology to the renovation of facade and interior paints. After removing the old paint, the substrate must be thoroughly cleaned; the clean and dry substrate can be recoated immediately.

Product application

  • Apply CM 51 evenly with a solvent-resistant brush and allow to work for up to 30 minutes. Then scrape off the dissolved layer with a spatula or wash off with a high-pressure cleaner and water. For extremely thick layers, a repeated application may be necessary. Paint residues on corners and profiles are best removed with steel wool or a wire brush. After paint removal, the substrate must be thoroughly cleaned; new coatings can be applied immediately to the clean and dry surface. For sensitive surfaces as well as intensely colored stones and tiles, a preliminary test should be carried out in an inconspicuous area. Do not allow to enter wastewater; observe local wastewater regulations. Wear safety goggles, protect eyes and skin, wash off splashes immediately with water, ensure good ventilation in enclosed spaces. Observe safety data sheet.
  • Ready to use, do not dilute. Apply undiluted to the surface to be stripped.
  • Paint stripping of metal components, machine parts, frames and trusses from powder coating, steel structures, gates and railings, as well as facade and interior paints as part of renovation work.
  • For solvent-resistant, strippable substrates. For sensitive surfaces, as well as intensely colored stones and tiles, a preliminary test in an inconspicuous area is absolutely necessary to check material compatibility. Do not allow to enter wastewater; local wastewater regulations must be observed.
  • The data sheet indicates a very economical consumption, without giving specific values. Based on experience, approximately 300 to 500 grams of gel paint remover per square meter per application should be assumed, meaning a 10 kg container is sufficient for about 20 to 33 square meters. For multi-layer old coatings, calculate accordingly higher.
